Vintage antique brass and steel Betty lamp.
This Circa 1800's French brass betty lamp has a grease tray decorated or stamped in the shape of a 5 pointed star. We have a similar item (DPL-05-027) that is all brass. This one has the original blacksmith made spiked steel hanger hand forged with a decorative twist. Great primitive pieces for that exclusive Old World Heirloom collection. Betty lamps are an ancient form of lighting used for centuries. These lamps burned fish oil and animal grease and produced a yellow flickering light and disagreeable smoke and odor.
