THIS ITEM IS SOLD -
Absolutely Best American Twibil we have come across. Circa mid 1700's this hand forged double bitted mortise axe which was the symbol of the carpentry trade is a combination of mortise axe and chisel. An axe shaped cutting edge partially ground on both sides at one end and a chisel - shaped cutting edge turned 90 degrees and beveled on the other, made this tool highly versatile. Deep touch mark S.G.P. and owner's engraved J. An OLD WORLD HEIRLOOM tool. Shows signs of use and age; please see pictures.
