Circa mid 1800's Antique Blacksmith Forged very large French Vineyard Axe. Double bevel cutting edge. Axe has a 10.5" cutting edge, original handle is tight and sound with a number of worm holes. Markers mark Verite A Beauvais, a tool maker in France who lived from 1806 -1887.
This mid 19th century antique axe has all the characteristics of a collectors item that will be sure to start many conversations. Looks captivating hanging on a wall. Very large axe, one of the larger axes in any category here at Old World. We have over 1000 axes in our archives. Great hand forged piece of History. France has made it difficult to sell and purchase these pieces as they have passed laws categorizing them as weapons. We are still able to get a few, but replacement French axes are very difficult to attain at this time.
