Circa late 1700's large Dutch pewter whale oil lamp with maker's mark "R" in oil cover. These primitive lamps were used as a main source of lighting in the early part of the 18th century before kerosene became a more common commodity. The lamps display gorgeously and would be a fantastic addition to any primitive lighting collection or primitive arrangement.
