THIS ITEM IS SOLD Circa 17-1800's antique blacksmith forged adze. Maker's mark with great shape and decoration. Original solid handle. These hand tools were hand forged at the edge of villages by Gypsy Craftsman in Transylvania. Villagers would come to the Gypsy caravan and have axes, adzes, knives and other tools crafted along with the purchase of portents and elixirs for a multitude of ailments. Many years ago a collector began to acquire these ancient tools and we are the recipient of a large quantity of fine tools ranging from the 1600's thru the 1800's. A large stash are still stored in the mountainous region of Transylvania and let us know if you have any requests as we filter them to the US.
