Dated 1630 (MDCXXX) cast bronze pharmaceutical mortar and pestle. This is a handsome very large size and heavy (over 20 lbs) mortar with pestle. A unique piece of medical and pharmaceutical history with a cast ferocious lions head on each side. One can only imagine the concoctions and portents that were created in these ancient pieces of medical/pharmaceutical history. Absolute one of a kind.
