THIS ITEM IS SOLD Circa 1870-1880's deep cobalt blue salt glazed Westerwald gray stoneware pitcher with ornate pewter lid. Beautiful floral, animal and bird design and incised stripe decoration with cobalt blue and black background. Marked on the bottom PW 274 this pitcher was made in the Hohr Grenzhaus region once the center of German ceramics from the 15th century until present day. This area was known for Westerwald pottery production.
