Circa 1700's very large redware Ovoid Jar. This pot has glazing inside and on upper top section. Earthenware vase type piece with two upper handles. Hand thrown used for olive oil or carrying water. Has a V-shaped old repair off the side from one handle, does not effect structure of piece, also found a very light hair line crack almost invisible and chips on base, none of which detract from the pottery. Stunning decorative rope design and very large handles and will display exquisitely in any setting. though this piece has some character marks or flaws, it is amazing a jar this large has lasted through the ages. It was found stowed away in a small Romania village in the Transylvania region. Fantastic Old World Heirloom.
