Circa mid 1700's Large Heavy Right Handed Butcher's Axe. Used in butcher's shops and meat markets to divide sides of beef and separate joints. This is a truly large axe that packed a punch. Solid Axe and Original Handle. Axe has a 7.5" cutting blade and a 12" handle. Has makers mark in the form of two Celtic arches and 5 punches. Also has a old blacksmith mark wgucg us difficult to identify because of the depth of the stamp.
